Purpose of the catalogue
The YNOOR Public Domain Literature Library provides free access to public-domain ebooks. This catalogue is designed to help readers discover and understand historical travel and geographic works. Our editorial team prepares descriptions, reading notes, and guidance to make these texts more accessible, but we do not claim to replace the books themselves.
Scope and selection
The catalogue includes 97 books, all drawn from Project Gutenberg. Our editor, James Emerson, selects works that represent a range of regions, periods, and narrative styles. The collection emphasizes firsthand accounts from the 18th to early 20th centuries. No modern works under copyright are included.
Source attribution
Every book record identifies Project Gutenberg as the source. We verify bibliographic details against the original source files and note any contributors such as editors or illustrators. Links to the source text are provided where available.
Bibliographic records
Each entry includes the title, author, publisher, subject keywords, and target reader field. The catalogue note is an original editorial summary that highlights the work’s content, style, and context. These notes are based on our reading of the text and are not simply copied from other sources.
Category assignment
Books are grouped under a single category, “Geography,” based on their primary subject matter. This assignment is a navigational aid, not a definitive literary classification. Readers should consult individual notes for nuances.
